Copenhagen Theatre is seeking a Theatre Director for Camp X

11.08.2008

The current Director of Camp X has decided to resign from the position at the end of the season 2007/08. This means that the position is vacant and can be filled as soon as possible or as per agreement.

Camp X's Duties

The position is to be filled within the framework of Copenhagen Theatre's strategic plan for the period 2006/07-2010/11. As a result of the general profiles stipulated for the theatres under Copenhagen Theatre, Camp X must be run as an innovative theatre with a specific view to:

New Danish and foreign dramatic art and children’s theatre

· Challenging the concept of the theatre

In regard to strengthening the theatre’s core business, an adjustment of the result agreement that the former management has entered into with Copenhagen Theatre for the period 2007/08-2010/11 must be carried out. In this connection, some of the current duties of Camp X might have to be anchored more widely at Copenhagen Theatre, i.e. at the other theatres.

The theatre’s final description of duties is established in a dialogue with the theatre’s Board of Directors and the new Director, who is therefore expected to participate actively and constructively in this process.

Camp X’s activities take place at two stages, Camp X Aveny and Camp X Rialto. The Director must engage in and participate in the specific implementation of a rebuilding of Camp X Aveny.

Qualifications

The Theatre Director will be responsible for the day-to-day artistic and administrative management of the theatre and will report to Camp X's Board of Directors. The Theatre Director must:

· have a strong artistic background, gained from work as an actor, theatre producer or from in-depth experience with other art forms

· be artistically innovative and visionary

· be a natural leader

· work in collaboration with the other theatres under Copenhagen Theatre

· be able to keep a sense of the financial perspective and make financial decisions

· have strong communication skills

· be able to promote diversity and equality

· be capable of establishing an international network

The application should address the outlined qualifications. It should also clarify the applicant's personal and professional objectives for the running of the theatre.

Salary and Terms of Employment

Applications are invited from both individuals and groups, which jointly possess the necessary artistic and administrative qualifications. If two or more people apply for the position of Theatre Director as a team, it is a prerequisite that one of the applicants be nominated as Principal Director. The appointment is for a period of 4 years with the option of extension

The appointed Theatre Director should be available to take up the position as soon as possible or as per agreement, but will be expected beforehand to plan and make the necessary decisions concerning funding for the season 2009/10, within a grant framework that is established in the adjusted result agreement.

Salary according to qualifications. Upon appointment, it will be decided whether, and to what extent, the Theatre Director may attend to artistic projects at his/her own theatre, or retain other salaried employment outside his/her own theatre.
